WHAT CLIENTS SAY
In their own words
Siriporn T.
Chiang Mai
"I came in not knowing what to ask or even what I needed. The first meeting was very calm — they asked questions I hadn't thought of, and by the end I had a much clearer picture of my options. The written summary they sent afterward was genuinely useful."

"Navigating Thai family law as a foreigner is genuinely confusing. Khrua Counsel explained everything in plain English without condescending about it. The agreement they drafted was clear and fair — my wife and I both felt comfortable signing it."

"The process took a little longer than I expected, but they were honest about that from the start and kept me updated throughout. What I valued most was that they never added pressure. It is a difficult time and they seemed to understand that."

"The children's arrangements were the part I was most anxious about. The practitioners here were clear that the children's wellbeing came first — and that made me trust the process. The outcome was fair and both my former husband and I could accept it."

"I had one consultation to understand my position under Thai law before deciding whether to proceed. That one meeting was worth every baht — I came out with a clear picture and a written record of the advice. It helped me make a decision I felt confident about."

CASE SUMMARIES
How we supported families through specific situations
Names and identifying details are changed. These summaries describe the nature and outcome of real cases handled at Khrua Counsel.
CASE SUMMARY 01
A couple seeking a clear, documented agreement on property and parental responsibilities
CHALLENGE
A couple who had reached a mutual decision to separate needed a formal arrangement covering shared property and care schedules for two young children. Neither party wanted a contested process, but they had no experience of how Thai family law applied to their situation.
WHAT WE DID
We began with a joint consultation to understand both parties' priorities. Following that, we drafted a comprehensive agreement that addressed property division, the children's primary residence, and a shared care schedule. Both parties reviewed the draft together, and adjustments were made until each was satisfied.
OUTCOME
Agreement finalised within three weeks. No court involvement required. Both parties signed voluntarily, and the children's arrangements have been followed without dispute since.
"We wanted to do this properly without it becoming a fight. That is exactly what happened."
CASE SUMMARY 02
A foreign resident clarifying inheritance and property rights under Thai law
CHALLENGE
A long-term foreign resident in Chiang Mai needed to understand how Thai inheritance law would apply to a jointly owned property following the death of their Thai spouse. The situation involved family members in another province who were also potential claimants.
WHAT WE DID
We conducted a full consultation, explaining the relevant provisions of the Thai Civil and Commercial Code in plain English. We then assisted with documentation and liaised — with the client's agreement — with the relevant other parties to reach a clear, formally recorded resolution.
OUTCOME
Property rights clarified and documented within six weeks. The client's position was protected under Thai law, and the matter was resolved without formal court proceedings.
"I didn't know what I was facing when I first came in. They made it manageable."
